Boating and navigation safety:

Anyone operating a motorized boat must have a valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC) while onboard.
All boats must have lights on between dusk and sunrise. This is a federal law.
Swimmers should stay close to the shoreline, be visible and not swim alone. Children and non-swimmers should wear flotation devices or life jackets at all times when near water.
Water skiing and other towing activities are under federal law. The rules covering water skiing also apply to towing activities such as wakeboarding, barefoot water skiing and tubing. If towing someone, there must be a seat for all persons in tow in that boat. (Minimum number of seats for boats being used to tow is 3. There must be a spotter in the boat watching the person being towed. This applies to Personal Water Crafts (sea-doos) as well as other motor boats.
Use caution and slow speed (no wake < 8 kph) while boating through the rock area in the Narrows. It is not recommended that you tow anyone through the Rocks in the Narrows.
