LOCAL RULES:


- All power boats underway must keep the right (starboard) side closest to the shore, thus going anti-clockwise around the Lake.
- Lake Barron is not conducive to the use of personal Water Craft e.g.. Sea Doo, Jet ski, and their operation is not supported.
- The outlet bay (between Zone 1S and 2S) has a speed limit of 5 km/hr. As posted on the prescribed special "Control" buoy at the entrance.


NATIONAL RULES:

- Sailboarders require an approved lifejacket. Wetsuits are not lifejackets.
- Power driven vessels must give way to sailboats, rowboats, canoes, pedaloes, and swimmers.
- Re. Consumption of alcohol. Rules for boating are the same as for driving a car.
- Navigation lights must be turned on from sunset to sunrise -not just when it's dark.
- An additional person (lookout) is required on board a vessel when towing a water-skier, surfboard, knee board, tube, etc.
Furthermore, it is an offense to tow after dark.
 

COMMON SENSE:

- Avoid sitting on the bow of a motorboat when underway. Falling off can result in being cut by the propeller.
- Avoid standing up when starting an outboard. Avoid standing up or changing seats in a small boat
- Don't cruise at high speed near anchorages, other boats, the shore or other swimmers.
